Postcards from San Francisco
Feeling not-quite-ready to wrap up my Northern California vacation, I console myself with the fact that at least I get to spend my final 24 hours in San Francisco. It’s my first time in this beautiful city, so we try to make the most of every minute.
First stop is Sausalito, a charming town set on hillsides overlooking the Bay. With its abundance of colorful flowers and picturesque terraced homes, Sausalito reminded me a bit of my recent trip to Positano, Italy. Gazing across the water, I caught an amazing view of the city skyline and Alcatraz Island looming in the distance. Onward to the Golden Gate Bridge!
I wanted to experience Lombard Street, “the crookedest street in the world,” so we took a spin UP… and then DOWN… (spin’s probably not the right word… actually, more of a creep.) A bit scary perhaps, but also beautiful due to the abundance of blooming hydrangeas that turned the street into a winding botanical gardens.
We raised our glasses to an amazing trip at iconic restaurant Boulevard. Local & seasonal American flavors in a classic Art Deco setting made it a cozy and unforgettable meal. We feasted on Chef Nancy Oakes’ perfect creations: salad with black mission figs, blackberries, & beets; butter-poached lobster; and grilled pacific walu with chanterelles & truffles.
We ended on a high note at the super sleek and modern St. Regis Hotel, housed in a historic building in the SOMA area. Little touches of hospitality made our stay extra special: upon arrival, my in-laws were greeted with this beyond-adorable mini cake to celebrate their 40th anniversary. My whirlwind tour of San Francisco gave me just a tiny taste of this vibrant city… and I think I’m already in love! So much more to do and see on the next trip…

Awww, I want to go back to SF!
