DIY Ice-Cream Parlour Buffet

I love incorporating dessert buffets into wedding & party designs.  Acting as dessert course, party decor, & favors all at the same time, they’re the ultimate multi-taskers!  So I couldn’t wait to share this super creative version that I discovered via the adorable site Eat, Drink, Chic. Amy designed a “Make Your Own Sundae” concept that would be a total show-stopper for a reception, shower, or birthday party… and even shared the templates to help us make it a reality.  Get ready to fall madly in love…

Ice Cream Sundae Bar Toppings

Vintage sundae glasses were repurposed as charming vessels for an assortment of toppings.  By choosing a limited color palette for toppings that matches the overall design scheme, the look stays contemporary & chic.

Ice Cream Sundae Toppings Bins with Scoops

These wooden crates lend rustic appeal, and the metal scoops recall an old-fashioned candy shop.

Maraschino Cherries

Maraschino cherries are a classic accoutrement, and who knew they’d lend such a bold punch when lined up in neat rows with stems standing up?

Argyle Ice-Cream Paper Cup

Go all-out elegant with vintage glass sundae cups gathered from thrift stores… or take the casual-but-cute route with these DIY paper ice cream cups.  Get the template & instructions here.

Ice Cream Sundae Bar Sauces

Fill pretty pitchers with tons of sauces: chocolate, strawberry, caramel, & butterscotch are all crowd-pleasers!

Ice Cream Parlour SignToo cute!

A final word from Camille: to recreate this concept at a party and avoid a melting disaster, I’d highly recommend designating one person as the official Ice Cream Scooper.  Keep ice cream tucked into a metal tub surrounded by ice, have the scooper dip into the chosen flavor, and then let guests go crazy with whatever toppings their hearts desire!
