A New Adventure
Today marks the first step on a new journey, and I couldn’t be more excited to share. When this posts, I’ll be donning a crisp white chef’s coat, packing my bag with shiny knives, & trying not to cringe as I slip on the requisite boat-like chef clogs. (I know my feet will thank me after standing in a kitchen for 6 hours…Comfort must trump fashion in this situation!) It’s the first day of culinary school, and I’m jumping into “Stocks, Soups, & Sauces” to learn to whip up bordelaise, bearnaise, & béchamel with the best of ‘em. Jump over with me as I answer a few questions that I know you’re dying to ask:
- Why would a party planner & style blogger commit to spending hours each day chopping, searing, braising, & standing over pots of steaming liquids? (aside from the benefit of a great facial steam)
Thanks for asking, and the simple reason is a lifelong passion for food & an enthusiasm for all things culinary. My parents taught me from an early age that we get one shot to spend our lives pursuing what we’re passionate about, & I’ve decided that it’s time to take the plunge and gain a more formal culinary education. At the very least, I’ll be able to throw some killer dinner parties, right?
*By the way, my part-time school schedule is mornings-only, which allows me to devote the rest of each day to party planning & keeping Camille Styles Events as busy & creative as ever!
- What does this mean for Style Notes readers?
That just happens to be one of the things I’m most excited about, because if you’re game, I want to bring my fantastic readers along for the journey! I have no doubt that each day will bring new adventures: fascinating educational experiences and some downright ridiculous snafus, no doubt. I plan to photograph every step of the way, and share recipes & lessons learned from the experience.
Hope you join me to taste lots of new flavors & pick up some culinary words of wisdom while I discover a lifelong dream!

So excited for you! You’ll have to enlighten me on a few things! I love your parents telling you “you only get one shot to spend your life pursuing what you are passionate about” that is great advice! I can’t wait to see all the photos! A is a lucky guy!
Congrats Camille! I’m jealous of what you’ll learn – keep the updates coming, and enjoy your pursuit!
Good luck Camille, this is a brilliant idea, it’ll be fabulous I’m sure.
